Challenge

Inzura’s primary goal was to provide insurance brokers a means to monitor customer driving behaviours and provide tools to analyze and extract the data.

Our task was to create a brandable suite of mobile and web apps for OEM distribution: Android and iOS apps for insurees and a web-based admin panel for insurance brokers. The apps were to communicate via a REST API with an in-house backend.

The biggest technical challenges were Beacon integration (car detection), GPS data collection (trip recording) and a custom camera module with quality detection (for guided step-by-step photography).

On the UX/UI design end, the mobile apps had to provide a hassle-free user experience, so that trip recording would't be seen as a chore. Furthermore, they had to be understandable without prior instructions, especially in stressful situations.

Outcome

The mobile Uls clearly delivers meaning, benefits and in-app usage instructions in every scenario. The apps purpose and possibilities are explained during onboarding. Hints on what to do next are presented only when necessary and within their appropriate context (not as an external Usage Manual).

Trip recording can be started automatically using a Beacon device placed in the car. This behaviour works seamlessly in the background, even when the app's not running.

Mobile users can browse their trip history and see what mistakes they've made. Aggregated trip scores are used to provide meaningful feedback for the driver, in form of an simple and interactive diagram.

To give users a streamlined experience, the mobile apps guide them step-by-step when collecting photographs for verification or an accident report. Image quality is analyzed on-the-fly to detect blur and glare.

The fully responsive web-based admin panel provides tools for customer service, data queries, export, analysis, ID verification, document printing and more.

All apps, including the admin panel, can be fully branded to match an insurance broker's corporate identity.
