Goal

Prioritizing time-to-market without sacrificing extensibility and stability was our main initial challenge. We focused solely on just two goals of the MVP which were distilled with the customer during the discovery phase: simplifying construction-related document revisions and enabling real-time on-site issue reporting with picture annotations.

Challenge

Our deadlines were tied to construction trade fairs and customer commitments. To reduce complexity and pressure: lean requirements management and process optimization.

Adapting to dynamic requirements while aligning with changing budgets mirrored common startup challenges at early stages. That meant a need for continuous team and process evolution to keep up.

Solution

For the MVP stage we managed to shorten the design process by merging UI/UX with frontend UI development. This freed us from the step of converting static designs into an actual UI.

We decided to harness industry-standard tools and frameworks, encompassing Azure's cloud services, .NET framework, SPA in Angular and native mobile frameworks . This approach capitalized on our team's profound expertise in these technologies.

Outcome

We created Byggemappen from scratch and delivered an iOS, Android and web application for construction teams. Workers, designers and clients can communicate with each other over chat and submit any failures or changes in the project as they happen.

Features like: sending photos with drawn notes, delivering group notifications, adding budget change requests or monitoring progress with milestones make project management fast, easy and effective.

Our platform of choice was MS Azure, so we also took advantage of technologies like Azure Functions and CosmosDB.
