Challenge

1Smile is a startup that was created as a new platform that would give modern parents the opportunity to create a modern family album with photos of their children. The primary goal was to make an application that would be safe and easy to use, in terms of adding pictures and sharing them with approved family members.

The challenge was to design an app that would support a large quantity of accounts at once and would handle a huge amount of content added at the same time. The software had to be scalable and adjusted for multiple platforms (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, desktop browsers).

Results

Thanks to our business analyst who worked closely with the client, we were able to identify key functionalities to plan an attractive and functional MVP. During the first months, our designers delivered the product branding and UX+UI. After four months our team had created fully-functional web and Android apps, following up with an iOS version in the next iteration. Users were able to create child profiles and add pictures along with descriptions, geotagging and date. They could invite their loved ones and decide which of the pictures would be shown to them. We also included the possibility of sharing videos and integrated the app with Facebook, which was widely recognized amongst users. Thanks to a payments system, users can also create albums and order prints to be delivered to their homes.
